Rising above the town of Gampola near Kandy, Ambuluwawa tower Sri Lanka is a unique 48-meter spiral structure designed in the likeness of a Buddhist stupa.
Serving as the country's first multi-religious sanctuary, the complex features a temple, church, mosque, and kovil, showcasing the unity and harmony of Sri Lankan culture. Resting 3,567 feet above sea level on a scenic peak, reaching the summit involves a thrilling and steep climb up a narrow spiral staircase, a challenge well rewarded by sweeping 360-degree panoramic views.
On a clear day, the tower offers breathtaking vistas of surrounding mountain ranges, including Piduruthalagala to the east, Bible Rock (Bathalegala) to the west, Adam’s Peak to the south, and the Knuckles Conservation Range to the north, alongside the Hunnasgiriya and Hanthana ranges. The surrounding sanctuary is also a biodiversity hot spot, home to lush evergreen forests and over 200 plant species, including numerous endemic and medicinal plants. Cooled by refreshing mountain breezes, Ambuluwawa stands out as one of the best destination highlights in Sri Lanka for travelers seeking panoramic scenery and an unforgettable adventure.
