Introduction to 7 Day Itinerary
The Indian Ocean consists of many beautiful islands. Of those, Sri Lanka is a special one. It is 65,610 sq km in size and is situated just below India. When you search for Sri Lanka on a map, it looks like a pearl-shaped island. However, the country is a paradise for tourists.
The beautiful beaches, scenic mountains, lush tea gardens, cascading waterfalls, wonderful historical sites, and delicious food are always attracting tourists to this little nation. We should say that there are so many places to visit and explore in Sri Lanka. But one week is not enough to do all of these. Anyhow, you can explore some major tourist sites and places within a few days. Our 7-day itinerary is specially designed for that purpose.
Our 7 Days Itinerary in Sri Lanka
Day 1: The date of your arrival. Our representative will welcome you to the Katunayaka Bandaranayake Airport for 6 nights/7 days. Your first destination is Kandy City. It is a historical city in the country and the capital of the central highlands. There are so many beautiful places to visit in Kandy. During your Kandy visit, you will also travel to another popular tourist attraction called Pinnawala Elepahant Orphanage. It is an ideal place to see Sri Lankan elephants of all sizes. You can watch their bathing, feeding, and other daily activities from there.
Day 2: Starting from Kandy City, you will visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress on this day. You will be lucky to climb the rock fortress and to see its ancient ruins. Sigiriya was the palace of King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD. Its technology, architecture, and ancient paintings will surely amaze anyone. After the hike, you will come back to Kandy to finish the day.
Day 3: On this day, you will visit the most popular tourist attractions in Kandy. Starting from the shopping complex, you will visit the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic and Kandy View Point. After them, you will travel to Nuwara Eliya City. It is the coldest place in the country where it is called “Little England” in Sri Lanka. The Kandy–Nuwara Eliya route is very beautiful, with many tea plantations and waterfalls. During this trip, you will be able to visit a tea factory and a tea estate. It is a great chance to see how the famous Ceylon tea is produced. Then your overnight stay will be at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 4: You will visit Gregory Park in the early morning. It is a beautiful place for jogging, walking, and relaxing. As well, you can participate in many water activities on Gregory Lake. After Nuwara Eliya, you will visit beautiful Ella City. It is another popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka. You can participate in hiking and adventure activities there. Then your overnight stay will be at a hotel in Ella.
Day 5: After Ella City, you will travel to Udawalawe. During this trip you will visit a beautiful waterfall called “Ravana Ella’. It is another must-visit place in the Ella area. Afterward, you will visit the Udawalawe area. It is a superb place to explore Sri Lankan elephants and other wild animals. Your overnight stay will be at a hotel in Udawalawe.
Day 6: On this day you will travel to the Mirissa area from Udawalawe. It is a coastal city in the southern province. There are so many beautiful places to visit in that area too. Coconut Tree Hills and Mirissa Fish Market are some of the places that you will definitely visit. Anyhow, you should note that Mirissa is a great place for whale watching in Sri Lanka.
Day 7: This is your departure date. According to the leaving time, you will visit Galle Fort, Turtle Hatchery Farm, and go on a boat safari on the Madu River. Then we will drop you off at the Colombo or Katunayaka airport to finish your Sri Lanka 7 Days Itinerary.
